THE HORSE PALACE by Nadine Gomez

Between the abandoned factories and crumbling buildings of Griffintown is concealed Montreal’s oldest stable, last remnant of a time gone by. In this intriguing, anachronic enclave, running alongside modernity, it seems like time has withheld its course. But since its aging owner has decided to sell his propriety, the days of the Horse Palace are numbered. As in an urban tale, the film invites us to reflect on the meaning and worth of the immaterial heritage of our cities. In a poetic mode and a humanist perspective, this film evoques, with its mosaic of strong and touching characters, the memory of the sites in which we live; sites which are marked as well by loss and link, as the urban space evolves.
