In 1965, six young Spanish priests – Carlos, Eloy, Antonio, Jesús, Julio and Miguel – arrive in Bolivia, as missionaries. Faced with new realities, they believe they can change mentalities. But they’ll be the ones changed. Witnesses to great Latin-American uprisings, they preach a Liberation theology, soon rub shoulders with Che Guevara’s guerrilleros, hide weapons and wounded men. Expelled from the country for their beliefs, they ended up splitting. Most renounced to their vows, some married, had children. Now in their 70s, as the elder shows worrying signs of Alzheimer, they’ve decided to take back their life-changing journey. A witty and joyful trip into memories, Sur nos traces gives voice to six old friends and their surprising destinies.
