Their name will forever be associated with the "Printemps Érable" - the mass protests led by Québec's student movement in 2012. L'ÉCOLE DE LA MONTAGE ROUGE was a group of graphic design students brought together by and for the student strike, who gave the movement a face by crafting clever slogans and inpiring imagery. But did their creative spark really contribute to a generation's political awakening? Without images, is a revolution still a revolution? Is creativity necessarily linked to a surge of dissenting ideas? These and other questions are deftly tackled in AUJOURD'HUI POUR MOI, DEMAIN POUR TOI, a film whose title adopts the students' credo ("today for me, tomorrow for you"). The film also reminds us that design is more than mere decoration : it can also be at the forefront of much-needed social change.
